Jason Capel is one of the most popular and richest Coach who was born on January 15, 1980 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. Jason Maurice Capel (born January 15 January, 1980) is a American college basketball trainer. He is currently an assistant coach at Pittsburgh. He was the previous Coach 15th of the Appalachian State Mountaineers men’s basketball team. He was an ex-basketball player of the North Carolina Tar Heels, and is the elder brother of Jeff Capel, former Duke University basketball player, and current University of Pittsburgh head coach. Capel has provided commentary in color during ACC basketball for Raycom Sports during the 2007-2008 college basketball season. Since January 2018 Capel was a sports anchor on Bein Sports. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. His wife is his former college love Ashley Heath, also a student at UNC.
Capel joined the team of Buzz Peterson at Appalachian in 2009 as an assistant coach. After his departure from Buzz Peterson for the head coach position at UNCW on April 19, 2010, reports surfaced that Capel was being given the top job as a member of the Appalachian basketball coaching staff. On April 21, it was confirmed at the news conference Capel was named the new director of the Mountaineers and was the 15th coach in the history of the team. Capel’s deal was terminated following the 2013-14 season, when the Mountaineers had 9-21, which was the third consecutive season that the Mountaineers were losing under Capel’s direction.
He was a player for BT Roseto of the Italian Serie A league in 2005-2006 between July and December 2006, he was a part of Air Avellino in the same league. Capel finished the professional phase of his career Serbia as a player for KK Crvena zvezda of the Nasa Sinalko Liga in 2007.
